The Journey Socks

$7.00

Looking for a small project to take on your vacation? These socks are a great project for long journeys. Knit as a long tube, using a pattern repeat, that once you get into a rhythm with, you don’t have to think about too much! So you can sit back, get your favourite music, podcast or audiobook on and enjoy the view!

Good news! Although it may look like a lot of purls, this tube is created inside out, so the majority of stitches are knit rather than purls!

I have given guidance with measurements, but when it comes to calf length and foot length, these are easily customisable for your personal preference and fit.

When finished, slip these on at your holiday accommodation and relax!

Perhaps, show them off by wearing a lovely sock and sandals combination (or is that just me?)

MATERIALS

  • Fingering weight yarn. Sample 1 uses The Crochet Cove Deluxe Fingering - 75% Superwash Merino, 25% Nylon. 437 yards | 400 metres, 100g | 3.5 ounces in colourway Noelle. Heels and toes were knit with Cascade Heritage yarn - 75% Superwash Merino, 25% Nylon. 437 yards | 400 metres, 100g | 3.5 ounces in colourway Spruce. Sample 2 uses Cascade Heritage yarn in colourway Anis.

  • 8 x Stitch markers

  • 1x Circular knitting needles 2mm (US 0) with 39.5 inch | 100 centimetre cable (or whichever size needed to obtain gauge).

  • Tapestry needle (for weaving in ends)

  • Scissors

CONSTRUCTION

This pattern uses the magic loop method.

Constructed cuff down and inside out, so you will be knitting for the majority of the pattern, until the toes and heel insert.

SIZES

Adult sizes:

XS (S, M, L)

Foot circumference:

7 (8, 9,10) inches | 17.5 (20, 22.5, 25) centimetres

Finished foot circumference (approx 1 inch negative ease):

6 (7, 8, 9) inches | 15 (17.5, 20, 22.5) centimetres

This pattern would be nothing without my testers, so a big thank you to them!
