Hi there! I’m Emma, the owner and creator of Wander and Create. I’m from the UK, but I have been living in British Columbia for the last four years with my partner James (while you’re here, please check out his podcast Winging It Travel podcast!) We love to travel and so in January 2023 we took a big leap and packed up our life in Canada to go and see more of the world.
I created Wander and Create Store out of my love of making things. Friends have been telling me for years to set up my own shop (literally over a decade at this point) and I finally built up the courage to open one in 2021, first with earring, but now shifting my focus to knit and crochet patterns. Anyone else take that long? My aim is to create patterns that people will love to use and be able to make use of for years to come.
My love for making things started in childhood. When I first started school I told my teacher my favourite thing was drawing and I remember being at my grandparent’s making flowers with tissue paper and wire. Knitting and crochet came along in my early 20s. My friend is a knitter and watching her do it inspired me to give it a go! It took a while, but now it’s my obsession. Although my Nan had been a big knitter, by the time I found an interest, she was unable to teach me but did give me her knitting bag full of needles, stitch holders etc, which I will cherish forever.
My goal is to create patterns that are easy to follow, and therefore easy to take on travels with you. These will range from small projects, that are easy to fit in your luggage, to larger ones that have simple stitches and repeated rows and rounds, that make them easy to memorise while killing time on long journeys! Which is my favourite kind of project.
Watch out for blog posts from me where i hope to share some of my experiences knitting and crocheting while travelling, particularly and tips and tricks I have learnt to make things easy, as well as any downsides!
If this all sounds like your kind of thing, send me a hello through email or social media and subscribe to my newsletter! I promise to only send you an email when I have announcements or updates to make.
