The Journey Hat pattern

a male wearing the knitting Journey Hat

This hat gets its name because I started designing this hat on a flight from Vancouver to London.  The sport-weight yarn makes it lightweight, making it easy to pack for trips, yet still able to keep your head warm on those cooler mornings.

I wanted something that was simple to knit, that could be done with ease while occupying yourself on long journeys, whether it’s via plane, train or car. Perhaps even walking if (you are one of those super-skilled individuals that can do that!)

Though it may look like lots of purl stitches, fear not, this hat is contracted inside out so that the majority of stitches for the main body of the hat are knit stitches.

This unisex design would make a great gift for friends and family in your life. Made with sport weight yarn,

Sport-weight yarn also means it packs up light and small, perfect to squeeze into your luggage on your next trip!

The minimalist design makes for a long-lasting hat.  Made inside out so you can keep in stockinette and slip stitches for the majority of the hat, which I feel we’re always more comfortable with than purling all stitches!
